The Public Affairs and Communications Directorate (PAC), supports the implementation of the Secretary General’s strategic orientations by orchestrating the Organisation's external communications. We look at the whole spectrum of OECD work, how it relates to the global public agenda, and ensure key OECD policies and research are communicated to key stakeholders and the media.

About the OECD Channel Management and Dissemination team 

The Channel Management and Dissemination team in PAC is responsible for creating a coherent online experience for OECD’s users across OECD’s online landscape, to boost discoverability of OECD communications, knowledge and content services across the internet and to channel OECD communications and knowledge to audiences via selected third-party channels.  We are launching a project to redesign OECD's websites and content to improve user experience, increase visibility and engage with broader audiences.

Main responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Channel Management and Dissemination, she/he will be responsible for creating and designing web elements that optimize user interaction and experience.  The user interface / experience designer will work with the channel team to create wireframes, storyboards, and conceptual models for improving and overhauling design and increasing coherence across OECD’s digital platforms.

User-Centred Design

  • Build wireframes and storyboards to conceptualize design.
  • Define visual elements, product elements, and overall design.
  • Evaluate and set best practices and standards.
  • Work with team to define user flows and sitemaps.
  • Perform user research such as surveys and testing.
  • Create interaction components and user interface specifications.
  • Collaborate on scenarios, end-to-end experiences, and screen designs.
  • Create user stories, test plans and carry-out tests of new and changing features and templates.
  • Use A/B testing and analytics data to drive improvements based on key metrics.
  • Create cross-platform and site-wide style guides.
  • Qualify, analyse and report production issues related to the user experience.
  • Liaise with Web editors, Content, Project Management and technical teams to test and correct production issues.

 Coordination and Communication

  • Develop timeline, deliverables and report results of feature development.
  • Coordinate with business units to capture business requirements and specifications.
  • Work with external UX design suppliers, engineering, frontend, and backend developers as needed.
  • Work closely with channel owners, product managers and designers to turn user data into actionable product/service requirements.
  • Explain user needs to internal stakeholders, and act as a persuasive advocate for those needs both within the team and the department at large.
  • Participate in drafting and communicating tips, guidelines and standards for digital channels.

Candidate profile

 Academic Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Computer Science or related field; Master’s degree preferred

Professional background

  • Three (3) years’ previous experience in UI, engineering, UX, programming, or related position
  • Proven experience with UI design with portfolio of sample projects
  • Artistic eye for design, user interaction, functionality, and readability
  • Experience conducting user research and testing
  • Experience producing wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and site mapping, information architectures
  • Experience with visual design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch
  • Skills in HTML, CSS Integration, JavaScript, troubleshooting desirable
  • Strong problem-solving skills to analyse problems and strategize for better solutions
  • A belief in making data-driven and evidence-based product decision
  • Knowledge of Agile and Scrum processes
  • Experience with UX tools: A/B testing software, web audit tools, clickable wireframes, etc.
  • Google Analytics certification (GA IQ) is desirable

Languages

  • Excellent spoken and written knowledge of one of the two official languages of the Organisation (English and French); good knowledge of the other.
